America First Party of Michigan

Fighting for Faith, Freedom, and the Constitution to Put America First

Letter to the Editor: Ypsilanti Courier and AnnArbor.com

September 2009

To the Editor:

Hey, you Kennedy-lovers.  Aren’t you glad your hero (Teddy) did what he did 40 years ago (let that girl die), so that he (Teddy) could do what he’s done for the past 40 years – that is: push for, support, and put in place, every liberal/socialist/pro-Communist cause he could find, to push down the taxpayers’ throat, using, as Teddy himself said, “the full power of the Federal Government” to do it?

For this, he (Teddy) is eulogized as a near – saint.

But: the fact remains that: if he hadn’t done what he did 40 years ago, that is: let the girl die, he wouldn’t have been able to do what he did for the next 40 years.

So: praise Teddy, who is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, where the war-dead are buried, who died for their country.

But Kennedy, who didn’t die for his country, but allowed another to die so that he could fulfill his political ambitions, will join the war-dead.

Isaiah, Ch. 5: vs. 20-23, says:

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that count darkness as light, and light as darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!  Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink, who justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!”

They didn’t read that at Kennedy’s funeral, but they should have.

Dan Eller,

National Committee Member, America First Party of Michigan

STATEMENT – 9/23/08

The Executive Committee of the America First Party of Michigan supports Bob Barr for President of the United States.

Bob Barr is an ex-Republican Congressman from Georgia, who left the Republican Party, and is now running for President on the Libertarian Party ticket.

Bob Barr believes, as we do, in individual liberty, individual responsibility, and limited government.

The Republican Party has become, like its no-choice “opponent”, the Democrat Party, the Party of Big Government, Big Budgets, Big Deficits, all the opposite of what we believe.  Clearly, there is no choice between the two “major” Parties.

Bob Barr, like Mike Eller, is running as an Independent.

His (Bob Barr’s) Platform includes the following 4 (four) points:

Foreign policy: End the Iraq War, bring home our soldiers from around the world, and cease plans for an attack on Iran.

Privacy: Repeal or radically change the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, and Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.  Reject torture, secret tribunals, and secret prisons.

National debt: Stop increasing the national debt.

Federal Reserve: Conduct a thorough audit of the Fed.  Stop taxpayer bailouts, corporate subsidies, and the creation of money and credit out of thin air.

We agree with this Platform.

The America First Party is not running a candidate for President.  Hence, we are supporting Bob Barr, a Libertarian, for President.

We are sick of Government running our lives, controlling our businesses, limiting our (individual) freedom, and spending us practically out of existence.  The latest response to Wall Street failures (Government bailouts) is only the most recent example.  The “cure” is worse than the problem, and, in fact, is basically the cause of the problem.

VOTE FOR:

Mike Eller for (Ypsi) City Council, Ward 3

                    Bob Barr (Libertarian) for President.

Learn real economics, not political economics.

McCain, Obama, and Murdock will all give you more of the same.

If you are truly an independent, Vote Independent!

___________________________________________________________________________________________

America First Party of Michigan State Chairman, Mike Eller to Run for Ypsilanti City Council, Ward 3

I am running for Ypsilanti City Council, proudly and unashamedly, under a banner of: Less Government, more individual responsibility, and, with God's help, a better world.

The people of this country are sick and tired of government, at all levels, controlling, regulating and taxing our property, lives, and businesses, far beyond the original intent and spirit of our nation’s founding documents.

The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were bold attempts to do what had never been done before, that is: limit the power of government.  It was never the Founding Fathers’ intent to guarantee each citizen a job, a house, or a pair of shoes.  Rather, they fought to guarantee your inalienable right to pursue those things, free from government interference.

Today, we are offered a “choice” (really a non-choice), between Socialist Party A, and Socialist Party B (Republicans and Democrats) – really two (2) arms of the same power – we call them Republicrats.  They both talk of “change”, but there is no change, nor will there be.

I am presently the state chairman of the America First Party of Michigan, and also co-owner and President of Populist Cleaning Company, located in downtown Ypsilanti.

We (our party and myself) believe in the Americanist principles of individual liberty, individual responsibility, and limited government.  If these principles were applied to the workings of local government (in this case, Ypsilanti City Government), as they should be, the City would be out of debt, running smoothly, at a surplus, and not looking for ever-new ways to burden its citizens with its own inability to run itself and its affairs competently.

In short, I offer you a choice, your only true choice, for the future.  Otherwise, you will get the same-old same old, masking as “choices”, but, in reality, no choices at all.

If you, the voters, haven’t found that out by now, will you ever?

Elect:        Mike Eller, Independent,

                Ward 3, Ypsilanti City

                Government (Council).

The Detroit Free Press

TO THE EDITOR:

The Rosenbergs were not “alleged” spies, nor were they “wrongfully charged”, as McPhail and the paper say (P. 1A, Free Press, 6/24/08 [The article reference is printed below in blue]).  The Rosenbergs were tried, and convicted, of espionage, and passing atomic secrets to the Soviet Union.  The only ones who said they were innocent, and maintain their innocence to this day, were the Rosenbergs themselves, and the Communists who supported them, and still support them.  McPhail should get her facts, and history, straight, and so should the Free Press, though asking the latter is probably asking too much.

But to compare the two cases (of the Rosenbergs and Mayor Kilpatrick) is disingenuous and deceitful, in the extreme, and does a great disservice to our young people, who cannot be expected to know the truth about the so-called “Red Scare” period of the 1950’s, given the sources for history that they have access to today.  Probably McPhail herself doesn’t know it (the truth).  In which case she should shut her mouth about such matters, and not suffer the taxpayers to pay for her ignorance.

                              Platform Committee,

TEXT MESSAGE SCANDAL

McPhail likens case against mayor to 1950s treason trial

BY ZACHARY GORCHOW and JIM SCHAEFER • FREE PRESS STAFF WRITERS • June 24, 2008

Likening the Detroit City Council's effort to oust Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to the 1950s Red Scare-era prosecution of alleged spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, Kilpatrick's general counsel asked Gov. Jennifer Granholm on Monday to delay any removal effort until the mayor's criminal case is resolved.

Sharon McPhail, the mayor's lawyer, also renewed the argument that the Detroit City Council's 5-4 vote to ask Granholm to oust Kilpatrick is flawed, asserting the council needed a two-thirds majority.

Efforts to remove the mayor are an abuse of power, she said.

"From the wrongful charges leveled at the Rosenbergs in 1953 to the more recent release of wrongfully charged and convicted death row prisoners in Illinois, it is clear that officials sworn to uphold the law will use their power to persecute, and prosecute, without regard to the law," she wrote. "This is such a case."

Council President Ken Cockrel Jr., whom McPhail has accused of angling to become mayor with the removal efforts, called McPhail's remarks a ludicrous effort to deflect attention from the real issue -- the ruining of three cops' careers and the mayor's later scheme to pay them $8.4 million to conceal his damaging text messages with former aide Christine Beatty.

In 1953, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed for passing nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union. The Rosenbergs maintained their innocence, and the passion of their supporters carried on for decades afterward, even as new evidence emerged that lent credence to the government's case, particularly against Julius Rosenberg.

In her letter to Kelly Keenan, Granholm's legal counsel, McPhail said Kilpatrick's pending criminal case would prevent him from participating in a hearing before the governor. She asked that if the hearings go forward, she be given an opportunity to argue for a dismissal of the case.

Bill Goodman, the independent attorney hired by the council to assist in its investigation of the text message scandal, said McPhail should explain why Kilpatrick cannot participate, and he argued that others could testify on Kilpatrick's behalf. He said he doesn't need Kilpatrick to prove the council's case.

Goodman and parliamentary experts have disputed McPhail's point that the rules of parliamentary procedure required the council to obtain a two-thirds majority vote to ask the governor to step in. They say that the city's charter and applicable law trump such rules.

Goodman noted that, under state law, the governor may hold hearings on whether to remove a public official for misconduct based on the request of only a single person -- be it a public official or private citizen.

The United States should boycott the Olympic Games in Beijing.  It won’t, of course, but it should.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.), and eight other Republicans, to their credit, said, in Sept. ’07, that they would press for a resolution calling for the United States to boycott the Games (The New York Times, 9/7/07, P. A10).

The government of Communist China is the most brutal dictatorship in history, having murdered more people than any government in history.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt attended the Berlin Olympic Games, in 1936, though he did not sit next to Adolf Hitler.  It remains to be seen whether Pres. George W. Bush will sit next to President Hu Jintao, in the Communist Party sky box, overlooking Tiananmen Square, facing the portrait of mass-murderer Mao Tse-tung.

Olympic officials, and most U.S. politicians and businessmen, are cautioning us not to “mix sports and politics” – that it is not “appropriate”.  You can bet the Games’ host, Communist China thinks it’s appropriate – not only “appropriate”, but the main point, and major goal, of hosting the Games.  In short: a Major propaganda coup.

In the meantime, American businessmen and Corporations are falling all over themselves, drooling at the opportunity to make a buck off of the Communist regime, and the Olympic Games, not giving a damn about their complicity in the political, religious, and physical oppression of the Chinese people.

In our judgment, they, and the U.S. Government, will have to answer for that.

A Reply to Al Gore

President John Adams said, “Let us dare to read, think, speak and write.”  On Sunday, December 23, 2007, The Ann Arbor News published an “Other Voices” article, which is comprised of excerpts from Al Gore’s lecture about global warming, given on Dec. 10, 2007, in Oslo, Norway, after Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize.  The Other Voices article prompted the writers of this article to do much reading, thinking, and speaking about the subject of global warming.  We now dare to write.

In his speech, a prayerful Al Gore tells us that man-made global warming will result in dire consequences if we do not take drastic action immediately.  In our country, today, Gore’s view is held by a seemingly innumerable army of environmental Luddites, who think that by not taking elevators, or by using only 5 squares of toilet paper per day, they can “save the planet” from some impending catastrophe, which is real only in the specious computer projections of politically motivated “scientists”, who can’t even get a 5 day weather forecast right, let alone projections about what is going to happen in the year 2050.  But there are many scientists who disagree with Al Gore and his fear mongering minions.

John Coleman is the founder of the Weather Channel.  His meteorological experience spans more than half a century.  On November 7, 2007, on the blog page of ICE-CAP, a scientific website that boasts a stellar lineup of world-class meteorologists, atmospheric physicists, climatologists, and other scientists, Coleman wrote:  “Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long-term scientific data back in the late 1990s to create an illusion of rapid global warming…  Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going.  Soon they claimed to be a consensus…  I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it…  Global warming is a scam…  It is the greatest scam in history.”

If you visit www.oism.org/pproject, you can view the names of 19,000 scientists who signed a petition containing the statement: “There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate.”

If you Google search the title “The Great Global Warming Swindle”, you will find a link enabling you to view a one hour and fifteen minute documentary, which was aired on British television.  Scientists from around the world are interviewed, each presenting scientific data that support conclusions which contradict Al Gore’s message.

Recently, David Whitehouse, former long-time BBC science correspondent and editor, noted in an article in New Statesman”, “The fact is that the global temperature of 2007 is statistically the same as 2006 as well as every year since 2001… Global warming has, temporarily or permanently, ceased.  Temperatures across the world are not increasing as they should according to the fundamental theory behind global warming – the green-house effect.”

Going one step further, Oleg Sorokhtin, a fellow of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and the senior scientist at Moscow’s Shrishov Institute of Oceanography, recently stated: “Stock up on fur coats and felt boots.  The latest data… say that earth has passed the peak of its warmer period, and a fairly cold spell will set in quite soon, by 2012.”

There is no scientific consensus on the effects of global warming.  Yet the mainstream media, Al Gore, UN bureaucrats, blathering politicians, and the darlings of Hollywood act as though there is.  The Washington-based Media Research Center, in spring of 2007, disclosed that “the ABC, CBS and NBC morning shows have been tilted almost completely in favor of promoting Gore’s ‘climate crisis’ position, with 97% of all global-warming stories excluding contrary viewpoints.”

Worse yet, many warmaholics don’t care if their science is false.  Christine Stewart, Canada’s environment minister, commented at a meeting with the editorial board of the Calgary Herald, Financial Post (Canada), on December 26, 1998: “No matter if the science is all phony, there are still collateral environmental benefits” to global warming policies… “Climate change [provides] the greatest chance to bring about justice and equality in the world.”

Climate alarmist Stephen Schneider commented in Discover magazine in October 1989: “To capture the public imagination, we have to offer up some scary scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements and little mention of any doubts one might have.  Each of us has to decide the right balance between being effective, and being honest.”

Ross Gelbspan, an author with a long newspaper career with the Philadelphia Bulletin, Boston Globe, and Washington Post instructed an audience in the nation’s capital: “Not only do journalists not have a responsibility to report what skeptical scientists have to say about global warming.  They have a responsibility not to report what those scientists say.” (Emphasis in the original.)

Many people have a lot to lose if the global warming scare is exposed to be the fraud that it is.  Global warming has given rise to a profitable, multi-billion dollar industry.  There are scientists who rely on the millions of research grant dollars available from governments and private foundations, for the study of the negative effects of global warming.  And many scientists and journalists have built their professions around sounding the global warming alarm.  Indeed, certain newspapers have staked their reputation on it.  But beyond all of this, Mikhail Gorbachev, one of the early global warming prophets, tells us what is really behind the massive flood of global warming propaganda drowning us each day.

Mikhail Gorbachev was General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991.  During his reign over the Soviet Union, millions of Soviet citizens suffered mercilessly in the Soviet Gulags.  In the 1980’s, Gorbachev was responsible for the murder of over a million people in Afghanistan.  Mass murderer Gorbachev, for his bloody activities, has never been indicted for “crimes against humanity”.  To the contrary, in 1990, he, like Al Gore, received the Nobel Peace Prize and, in 1988, was lauded as Time magazine’s “Man of the Year”; and, in 1990, Time crowned him “Man of the Decade”!

In 1995, Gorbachev insisted that the only hope for saving our planet lay in “the development and implementation of an Earth Charter, a body of international ecological laws that would guide the actions of individuals, corporations and governments… The time has come for a code of ethical and moral principles that will govern the conduct of nations and people with respect to the environment.”  [Grassroots, quoted by Holly Swanson in Set Up and Sold Out: Find Out What Green Really Means (White City, Ore.: CIN, 1995), p. 277.]

On May 6, 1992, Mikhail Gorbachev delivered a speech at Fulton, Missouri, entitled: “The River of Time and the Necessity of Action” (emphasis added).  In it he said: “The prospect of catastrophic climatic changes, more frequent droughts, floods, hunger, epidemics, national-ethnic conflicts, and other similar catastrophes compels governments to adopt a world perspective…  I believe that the new world order will not be fully realized unless the United Nations and its Security Council create structures… which are authorized to impose sanctions and make use of other measures of compulsion.”

Up until now, most environmental causes had only local or regional effects.  But, global warming is a world wide threat, we are told.  Global warming knows no borders.  Thus, global problems require global solutions.  Global warming has supposedly created the necessity for global government!  This will not appear in the article in your local newspaper, below the picture of the 13-year-olds tossing around an earth globe during an Earth Day activity, but some of the world’s most powerful and influential people believe it, and are putting a large part of their sizable resources into the effort to make you believe it.

As it turns out, after all of the evidence is presented, the entire Global Warming movement, for which Al Gore is the poster boy, is not science at all.  It is Political Science.  Or, to re-phrase Bill Clinton’s 1992 Campaign slogan: “It’s the Politics, stupid”.

George Washington

"My ardent desire is, and my aim has been, to comply strictly with all our engagements, foreign and domestic; but to keep the United States free from political connections with every other country, to see them independent of all and under the influence of none."
